Shalom and Welcome to Temple Beth Israel-Shaare Zedek!
On behalf of Temple Beth Israel-Shaare Zedek, Lima, OH, I would like to welcome you to our website. We are located in Northwest Ohio midway between Toledo and Dayton off I-75 (North & South), and between Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Mansfield (East and West). We are small in number but strong in our commitment to the Jewish community as well as outreach to the non-Jewish community. We welcome those of you who are simply curious about Judaism as well as those of you who are looking for a spiritual home. We have some families in mixed religious marriages who are warmly welcomed and actively participate.
We have a Lay-led Shabbat Service once a month and Rabbi Barney Brickner comes from Columbus once a month for a potluck Shabbat dinner and Service. He conducts all High Holy Day services and we celebrate all Jewish holidays together. Both the Temple and Sisterhood hold events and fund-raisers welcoming all. We have a very small number of young people, so we no longer have a traditional Sunday school class. On the positive side, this means that each student preparing for b'nei mitzvah gets more individual attention.
Please join us. I think you will find our atmosphere to be warm and inviting. If you have any questions, please call 419-223-9616 and leave a message for me. I will return your call as soon as possible.
Connie Levy Hornung Temple President
